Mission Statement
We the members of the Stewardship Committee and the Council of St. John’s Lutheran
Church wish to declare our belief in the faithful practice of Christian Stewardship.
Christian Stewardship recognizes that all we have – our time, talent and treasure
– are gifts from God, which He has freely given us. Christian Stewardship also teaches
us that in return for God’s infinite love for us, we are inspired to give back to
God the “first fruits” of His gifts to us.
Out of our love for God we should give our time, talent and treasure freely and
generously to God without regard for personal merit, reckoning or reward – intending
only that “His Great Goodness” will be multiplied and become known to all people.
We are reaffirming our belief that the Biblical teaching of tithing is a sanctified
guide, goal and ground for us all to attain.
In prayerful thanksgiving to God, each one of us, our families and congregation
will respond to Him with gifts given from our opened hearts. Then our gifts will
be proportionately more true to God’s teaching and love.
We definitely urge everyone to unite in our commitment “to respond” to God’s love,
as individuals, families and the entire congregation. Then, to this end, the magnitude
of our gifts of time, talent and treasure will be immeasurable by any wisp of our
present imagination.
THANKS BE TO GOD!
