JOIN US FOR SOME ADVENT FELLOWSHIP

"MAKE A JESSE TREE"

Join us at St. John's for a time of spiritual fellowship as we prepare for Christmas and the celebration of Christ's birth by making a "Jesse Tree" for all individuals of families in attendance.

What is a Jesse Tree?

In the old days, in the front of any family Bible, a record was kept of that family's history: the marriages, the children born of those marriages, the marriages and offspring of those children. The course of those generations spread outwards like branches of a tree.

Similarly, there would have been, in a number of churches, a "Jesse Tree" - a depiction of Jesus' family tree in wood, stone or stained glass. Jesse tree were the Bible-storybooks for people before their was Bibles.

"There shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of the roots" said the prophet Isaiah.   Isaiah chapter 11

Help to start a new tradition with your family. ALL INDIVIDUALS and FAMILIES come learn the story and get the tools to make a Jesse Tree, so that you can spread the stories and symbols unto a new generation in the love of Jesus Christ.

The activities include:

A brief devotion
Brief history of the Jesse Tree
Make the Jesse Tree
and Dinner

What to Bring?
Please bring a covered dish to be shared (Soup will be provided) and bring coloring tools (colored pencils, markers to use to make the Jesse Tree symbols)
