ALOHA
(A New and Different Sunday School Project)

“ALOHA” is the name of the exciting new program we are kicking off for children here at St. John’s. We are kicking it off Sunday, February 1, 2012. Your Sunday School age child and Catechetical teen will have the opportunity to earn “coins” for participation in activities here at church. The coins can be spent at our “LUAU” on
Rally Day, Sunday, September 9, 2012

Children will be awarded a coin each time they attend Sunday School. Additional coins can be earned by attending church worship, Junior Choir rehearsal, Day Camp, VBS, Summer Sunday School, and other programs/activities we have here at St. John’s. We will keep the coins here in special individual boxes that the children/teens
will decorate
Sunday, February 12

On Rally Day in September, everyone will be able to redeem their coins at the Luau by playing games and exchanging coins for toys and snacks.

The Sunday School staff will keep you up to date with ways the children can earn coins. There will also be a board hanging in the vestibule in front of the Primary Room, which will have important information regarding the ALOHA program. Parent’s if you have any questions about how your child earns coins, please see your child’s/teen teacher. More information on the Luau on Rally Day will be available closer to the day.

We have a staff of volunteers that dedicate their time and service to teaching at St. John’s. We’re very appreciative of their commitment to Christian Education and teaching our children the values we believe in our Lutheran faith. The Sunday school curriculum is Christian based with the majority of it being Lutheran.

In Sunday School we have fun and we learn and make new friends. Each Sunday the children gather in the Primary for 15 minutes of singing with Kate. The songs are upbeat and come from a variety of things like VBS, Day Camp and Contemporary books and traditional ones as well. We also have special programs that we do and present to our congregation. Christmas and spring are favorite times to do them! Other things we do include community and global service projects. There is always something different and exciting happening at Sunday school.
